I must have missed this one, but one of my favorite journalist, John Stossel, is moving from ABC’s 20/20 to FOX News, FOX Business Network.  Granted I hardly ever remember to watch 20/20 but I always seem to catch his segments on youtube every now and then.  I’ve also seen him make some appearances on the FOX News internet show Freedom Watch with Judge Napolitano.

It seems to me FOX News has been gobbling up talent lately.  First with Glenn Beck and now John Stossel.  I can’t seem to make up my mind whether or not this is a good thing.  One side of me thinks that ABC is losing a “dissenting” voice that, in my opinion, people need to hear.  The other side of me thinks that by Stossel moving to FOX he’ll have a greater impact.

I don’t know much about the TV business but I do know that FOX is killing the other news networks in ratings.  At the same time, I know a large part of the population doesn’t watch FOX and I hate to see the people who watch ABC and not FOX to be deprived of his message.

Over all, I think this will be a good move for his message to be more widely heard.  Even if I think it would be better for those viewers of ABC to hear his message than the millions of people watching FOX who, more than likely already have some of the similar views.

From foxnews.com:

The one-hour program will feature in-depth reports on domestic and international libertarian issues and will debut during the fourth quarter of this year in FBN’s primetime lineup. Stossel and a panel of experts will explore a wide range of topics including civil liberties, the business of health care and Social Security.

He will also host a series of one-hour specials on FOX News Channel and write a blog called “Stossel’s Take.”
